Florida Grand Opera - Salome

Featuring the famed 'Dance of the Seven Veils'
Why see Florida Grand Opera - Salome?
A frenzied dance of death
Visceral in its violence, Richard Strauss' carnival of blood, lust, eroticism and debauchery paints a vivid picture of ancient Jerusalem. So searing is its depiction of wickedness, it was immediately banned in London after its premiere. However, in time it has become a sought-after piece in the repertoire, with its passionate score and taboo themes captivating audiences all over the world each season.
What is Salome about?
Based on a German translation of a play by Oscar Wilde, Salome (Melody Moore & Kirsten Chambers) follows the titular Princess as she wreaks havoc in the palace with her demands and petulance. Fascinated by the prisoner Jochanaan (Mark Delavan), she stops at nothing to possess his heart, asking King Herod to help her. Sexually charged and lavish, Salome isn't for everyone, but those that dare will not be disappointed by the Florida Grand Opera!
